42,047 miles, on ebay 08/08, seller writes:Excellent opportunity for someone to enjoy an E type roadster for an outstanding price. This Jaguar has been owned by our seller since 1978.

This is a nice example of a collectable XKE that needs a complete restoration to be show quality. It has been enjoyed simply as a nice weather, week end driver over the last 30 years of ownership.

The running, driving and basic mechanical condition seems to be sound. There were no mechanical defects noted by our seller when he left it for us to sell for him (we do encourage a pre-purchase inspection for your peace of mind).

As far as we know, the undercarriage is all original and solid, but again, we encourage an inspection. We have no mechanical or cosmetic restoration services available.

The cosmetics have deteriorated with age. It has had one repaint as far as we can tell. The paint will look better in the photos than it does in person. There is the typical crazing and checking common with the age and type of paint. Please note the photos with rust showing. The interior is original, and as the photos show, nothing has been done to restore it.

You could enjoy this E type as it is, just for fun, or work on it as money and or time permit.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
