1973 Jaguar XKE 2+2 4 speed. This car has been sitting for several years. The previous owner stated the car ran and drove well when parked and needed carbs rebuilt at that time. The car rolls and steers and the engine turns freely by hand. The car has rust in the trunk floor under the fuel tank and in the front of the floors as well as a hole in the side of the drivers door. This car seems to be complete and comes with extra parts as well. Equipped with V12 engine 4speed transmission, power steering, brakes and air conditioning. Silver paint with black leather. All glass, chrome and stainless is in good shape. This is a solid, straight car. These pictures were taken fresh out of storage before washing. Needs restoration.

This listing is for both cars, spares and literature together. one price for all. Both cars have clean titles and as far as I can tell matching number engines and chassis. Both are stick shift. Both are non-running projects.

I have a house that needs to be built, two boats and three cars that need restoring and then these two Jaguars! Too many projects and too little time. I have reluctantly decided that both Jags must go.

The 1971, the green car is the better of the two. I was reliably told that it was driven into a storage unit and left there since about 2004. I purchased it without the bonnet, but have since then found the correct year replacement, that would be the black & burgundy bonnet shown taken apart.

This car comes with the options of air-conditioning and tinted windows. Odometer reads: 39542

After having examined the front subframe, I surmise that the car either rolled into something with the bonnet open or something rolled into it. Enough to break one of the hinges and "possibly put a dent in the passenger side sub-frame. Both replacement subframes "Martin Robey" left and right as well as one pair of new hinges are included with the car. There is rust where the bulkhead meets the floor panels. Nothing too serious and replacement bulkhead panels, also "Robey", are included. Keys included. I would say original British Racing Green factory color.

I removed the carbs. and had them professionally rebuilt, included but not yet installed. The car appears to be complete missing only bonnet wiring harness, head lamps and smaller items.

New items include: fuel pump, starter, front suspension kit, new nuts and bolts for entire car except engine, filters and hoses, set of rear shocks and springs (I was told they were new, but don't look it), higher performance electric fans, reconditioned battery tray, shop manuals and ref. books old and new, premium orig. rubber floor mats, replacement door handles with keys and too many small items to mention.

The 1973 silver car is as far as I can tell mostly complete but requiring rust repair such as floors at bulkhead, trunk and at least the re-skining of the driver side door. Two extra used doors are included with the car. Someone has forced the steering wheel lock breaking it, replacement column with keys included. Sub-frames appear to be in order. Odometer reads: 51372

A set of four extra wire wheels with good tires are included, see photo of single wheel.

Neither car is running and both cars require new head liner, carpet and depending, new upholstery. Both roll and steer.

This Jaguar E-Type Series 3 2+2 FHC is an especially well-presented ‘numbers-matching’ example of the elegant classic British sports car, which benefits from a comprehensive restoration.  

Under the bonnet sits a naturally aspirated 5.3-litre V12 fed by quad Stromberg carburettors, delivering around 318PS to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.  

This example was originally a US-delivered model, which was imported into Bahrain in 2017, where it underwent a comprehensive restoration, and is now offered for sale via the motor trade.  

The odometer indicates 51,408 miles, though this is not warranted.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES  

This E-Type Series 3 is finished in a refined shade of silver over a red leather-trimmed interior, featuring a black dashboard and transmission tunnel, and chrome trim accents.  

It rides on a set of 15-inch chrome wire wheels shod in Goodride Radial RP28 tyres.  

Equipment includes a heated rear screen, a three-spoke steering wheel, Smiths gauges, a Kienzle analogue clock, heater and ventilation controls, a push-button radio, and push-out rear quarter light windows.  

The car comes with a spare wheel, tools, photographic evidence of the restoration, and the owner’s handbook.   

CONDITION  

Specific notes from the seller include: a minor blemish on the left-hand sill corner where the bonnet shuts.   

SERVICE HISTORY  

Notable recent maintenance includes a running-in engine oil change, and the carburettors being serviced.  

A comprehensive restoration was carried out over a three-year period, which included the car being fully stripped, all body shell corrosion repaired or removed, the shell and bonnet media-blasted and fully resprayed, all the suspension overhauled, all the brake callipers overhauled, new brake discs, pads, hoses and lines, a new brake master cylinder, the brake servo overhauled, the brake and clutch reservoirs replaced, the gearbox overhauled, a new water pump, and all new engine hoses. 

The restoration also included an aluminium radiator being fitted with uprated cooling fans, an uprated air conditioning compressor fitted, a new air conditioning condenser, the heater unit overhauled, the fuel tank cleaned and overhauled, new fuel pump and filters, new fuel lines, the wiring loom overhauled with any damage or wear repaired or replaced, the starter motor overhauled, new tyres, a new stainless-steel exhaust system fitted, the bumpers re-chromed, new body/windows seals, a reupholstered BAS leather interior fitted, and all new lights.  

During the restoration the engine was also overhauled, which included the fitment of new main and big-end bearings, new piston rings, a cam chain tensioner, a new clutch, the cylinder heads resurfaced, the valves re-lapped, all new gaskets and seals, and the sparkplugs and ignition leads replaced.
