Current Bid: $15,000 Ends In: 3 days
Seller's description:
This 1973 Jaguar XKE 2+2 is finished in Primrose Yellow over a black interior and was purchased new by the seller's grandmother. The car remained with her in upstate New York until 2011, when it was inherited by the seller and moved to California. Power comes from a 5.3-liter V12 equipped with a set of Zenith-Stromberg sidedraft carburetors and paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox. An extensive mechanical refreshing was conducted by the seller within the past year, including an overhaul of the carburetors and a new fuel pump, battery, brakes, tires, and more as detailed below. This XKE was recently moved to Utah and now shows 37k miles. The sale includes some records, spare parts, and a clean Utah title in the seller's name.
The car received a repaint in the factory Primrose Yellow sometime in the 1990s according to the seller. The older finish is said to display various nick and chips along with some bubbling along the hood.
Chrome wire wheels wear correct earless spinners and Hercules tires date coded from 2016. The braking system has been fitted with new front calipers, a replacement master cylinder, and new hoses.
The unrestored black interior shows cracking and seam separations in the upholstery, along with wear on much of the switchgear and controls.
Numerous photos detail the condition of the upholstery, carpets, and other interior surfaces. The 5-digit odometer presently reads just over 37k miles, only a handful of which have been added by the seller over the least few years.
Featuring four Zenith-Stromberg sidedraft carburetors, the 5.3-liter V12 was factory-rated at 272 horsepower when new and is paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox in this example. Work performed last year included replacement of the battery, clutch master and slave cylinders, fuel pump, and fuel lines. The carburetors were also overhauled and a modern thermostat and cooling fans were installed.
Most recently tuned while in California at sea level, the car is reported to run slightly rich at its present location in Utah. Some emissions equipment has been removed, though it was retained and is included in the sale.
