Car listed on EBay:

Description
Item Specifics
Jaguar : XKE
1974 Jaguar E-type Roadster Series III

Miles: 51340 Doors: 2 doors
Transmission: Manual Interior: Red
Engine: 12 - Cyl. Year: 1974
Exterior: Silver VIN Number: UE1523403

Vehicle Description: The last of the E types. The series III V-12 roadster. One owner from new. Low miles. Original paint and interior. Original books and sales brochures. Factory hardtop. Stored but maintained. Recent brake service. Recent clutch. Minor previous fogging or blending of paint in a couple of areas.

The paint is still so presentable that is would be a mistake to repaint in my mind. To make it drop dead gorgeous it probably would need to be painted.

It is nonetheless, perhaps one of the best original proper lowest mile examples in the world. These cars routinely sold for over $100,000.00 in 1989.

Opening bid GBP 7,000, no reserve, no bids, 2 days left in auction. This auction is said to be based in Newport-on-Tay, United Kingdom. The auction is suspicious as the same pictures were used for this auction as were used for the US auction over a year ago. Its a short 3 day auction and the starting bid is unusually low with no reserve.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
