What a gorgeous creation. It's been an honor (and a challenge) to return this V12 to its factory original condition (Except color. Went with Black over Sable).

Using the "Hagerty" Rating System we rate this car a #2+

#2 cars could win a local or regional show, a 2+ is the best of a 2. They can be former #1 cars that have been driven or have aged. Seasoned observers will have to look closely for flaws, but will be able to find some not seen by the general public. The paint, chrome, glass and interior will all appear as excellent. No excessive smoke will be seen on startup, no unusual noises will emanate from the engine compartment. The vehicle will drive as a new car of its era would. The one word description for #2 cars is "excellent."

We have posted 100 photos of the car, we have tried to photograph every area and every panel gap of the car however if we missed something please drop us a note and we will photograph your area of interest. We are selling this for one of our customers.

I purchased this car December 2015 from a physician out of Houston Texas. He purchased it from a fellow out of Georgia 9 months before that from a collector by the name of Rob, who purchased it from the fellow, Mark, who restored it a couple years before that in Oregon.
Mark owned the car for several years before restoring it. Mark purchased it from a friend who had owned it for many years (18 yrs?). Mark said the car was a very solid original car, including the interior which did have dark binding on the seats out of the factory. He sent me photos showing the original interior.
Rob was a serious collector. He had owned many collector cars and told me this was the nicest of the four SR III E-types he had owned. He sold it, through Classic Auto Smith, who was the shop in Georgia that serviced the car. Rob was downsizing his collection. The physician, Dywayne Williams, also had many cars and he only owned it for about 9 months before trading it in on a newer Porsche through AutoDynamics out of Houston. They dealt in mostly newer European Sports Cars; the E-type was foreign to them and they knew nothing about them.
Each owner did something to improve the car (beautiful custom steering wheel, tires, security system, radios, early over-riders, etc.).
I've owned many E-types over the years and currently own two others, both 63's, and a concours XK120SE. My expertise is making them look beautiful, and I rely on my mechanic, who has been working on E-types for 35 years, to keep them running well. The car only has a couple thousand miles on it since it was restored so it's still beautiful and in exceptional condition. Mark did an excellent job on the restoration. The only thing I plan to do is to put adjustable shocks/springs; the car is riding too low even though it has new shocks/springs. The adjustable shocks/springs will allow me to adjust both the height and the stiffness of the ride. Other than a few other very minor adjustments I plan to polish it, show it, and drive it on nice days. I posted the pictures dated March 2016.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
