This 1974 Jaguar XKE is a Series III roadster that was purchased by the seller from the original owner in 2017. A subsequent cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment was completed in 2020 and included repainting the body in dark blue, reupholstering the interior in Biscuit leather, and rebuilding the numbers-matching 5.3-liter V12. Additional equipment includes a four-speed manual transmission, a color-matched hardtop, a blue soft top, 15″ wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, quad Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, a Bell exhaust system, a wood shift knob, and a Retro Sound stereo. Service in April 2022 consisted of a mechanical inspection and fluid changes. This Series III XKE is now offered with service records from 1997 onwards, accessories, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, and Connecticut registration.

The car left the factory finished in Dark Blue and it was repainted as part of the refurbishment by Blackhorse Garage of Bridgeport, Connecticut. Additional work consisted of re-chroming the bumpers and badges, replacing the rubber gaskets and trim, fitting a blue Robbins Sun-Fast soft top and blue boot cover, and refreshing the convertible top frame. The original factory hardtop was also refinished in dark blue with a new biscuit-colored vinyl headliner. A new hardtop stand and cover are included in the sale.

The 15” chrome-finished wire wheels are secured by lobed knockoffs and are mounted with Toyo Extensa whitewall tires. A full-size spare resides in the trunk. The car is equipped with four-wheel independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes. The front struts and sway bar end links were replaced in 2018 by Foreign Affairs Autowerks of Lexington, Kentucky.

The bucket seats have been reupholstered in Biscuit leather, and the diaphragms and seat base foam were reportedly replaced. The seller notes that Dynamat was installed under the replacement carpeting, and additional equipment includes three-point seatbelts, a wood shift knob, a carpeted rear parcel shelf, a RetroSound Bluetooth radio, and replacement cabin speakers. The air conditioning system is inoperable.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and center-mounted auxiliary gauges that were refreshed by Nisonger Instruments. The five-digit odometer shows 64k miles, approximately 500 of which were added by the seller. The tachometer is said to function sporadically.

The numbers-matching 5.3-liter V12 features quad side-draft Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, factory air cleaners, a spin-on oil filter, and polished rain shields. The engine was resealed by Foreign Affairs Autowerks in 2018. A KoolKat radiator was also installed, and the water pump, thermostat, fuel pump, fuel-level sender, fuel tank, ignition components, and engine mounts were replaced. Service in April 2022 consisted of flushing the hydraulic system, changing the oil and coolant, and pressure testing the cooling system. The seller notes the car has been mechanically maintained by Dean Cusano of Motorcars Inc. in Plainville, Connecticut since 2018.

Engine stamping 7S16566 corresponds to the number shown on the data tag riveted to the cowl as well as the Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate shown below. Transmission stamping 8598 is shown in the gallery and also corresponds with the number on the Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. A Bell stainless steel exhaust system has been added.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate lists the factory colors along with the chassis, body, engine, and gearbox numbers.

The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for a vehicle of its age. It is being sold on its registration.
