Ebay item 4/6/09
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-1968-Jaguar-E-type-XKE-OTS-Roadster-Show-o ...
Opening bid $15,000 reserve not met, no bids yet 6 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
This 1968 is in excellent condition, ready to enjoy and drive. All numbers match. Clear title.
I purchased it in California as a “good driver” in October of 2001 and shipped it to Greenville, SC right after that. The previous owner stated that it had a “thorough going through” several years before that and the speedometer had been reset to 0 at that time. It showed 14,156 when I bought it and now has 17,392, so actual mileage is unknown.
In 2002 I had the Jag professionally restored and painted white. The original bonnet was replaced with an earlier one in order to have covered headlights. New gaskets and rubber were used throughout. It won second place the next year in “Driven Concours” with a 97.8. It has been kept in a climate controlled garage and looks as good as it did at the end of restoration.
Mechanically this XKE is excellent. Some of the updates are:
New SS exhaust system
New master cylinder and rear wheel cylinders
High speed starter—starts quick and easy
Quick change oil filter
Electronic ignition
Triple polished and tuned Carburetors
Older style wheel knock offs
All gauges and lights work, including the clock! Gears shift smoothly. It never overheats, runs cool in any traffic conditions here in hot South Carolina. Glass is all excellent. All locks work flawlessly, including the interior trunk lock. Even has the chrome Jaguar on the ash tray cover. The interior is in good condition. The radio works well, but is an earlier cassette Sony.
So what you get is the looks of the earlier XKE's with the upgrades that make this the best of both worlds. Can be driven anywhere. Tires are Michelin Red Line, the red line is turned in so what you see is blackwall.

The previous owner stated that it had a “thorough going through” several years before that and the speedometer had been reset to 0 at that time. It showed 14,156 when I bought it and now has 17,500, so actual mileage is unknown.

I drive this beautiful XKE only on sunny days for short trips in order to keep it in top shape. The 4.2L engine runs great and has 250+ HP.
