This very rare classic is fitted with right hand drive and automatic transmission. It spent its first 8 years traveling the streets of London and was shipped to the U.S. in July 1974. The Jaguar Archives have verified numbers match, options and colors. It was invited and shown at the prestigious Meadow Brook Concours D’Elegance in 2003.
This magnificent E-type has undergone thorough cosmetic restoration in the spring of 2003. The body was disassembled and stripped to bare metal and repainted the original cream color and finished with a superb clear coat. All the bright work was rechromed to Concours standards. Brand new Michelin Redline tires (correct 185R15 size) are mounted to new Dayton chrome wire wheels that are secured with new knock offs. Front and rear parking lamps have been re-chromed and new lenses installed.
The original black leather interior is soft and supple. The original carpet is in excellent condition with some wear in the drivers area. New correct Jaguar rubber floor mats protect the front floor. The Owners Manual, Plastic Jacket, Warranty, Lube Chart, Dealer Network List are in the glove box. The spare tire compartment is nicely detailed and includes the complete and original tool Roll, tools (includes a new Thor knock-off hammer), tire jack and bag. The instruments work perfectly (except the clock) and glow with new bulbs.
The IRS assembly was removed and restored this past spring (2004). U-joints, shocks, bushings, rotors and brake pads were all replaced. Hubs disassembled, bearings removed, cleaned repacked and refitted. The brake calipers have been rebuilt and all of the painted surfaces stripped and refinished.
The engine compartment is original with the exception of some minor detailing. The 3 SU carburetors have been rebuilt and properly tuned and make this 4.2l Jaguar purr. Starting is effortless. The new and correct header tank and superior aftermarket cooling fan keeps the engine running cool.
The owner history is documented from the factory delivery (July 13, 1966) to its current owner. The previous owner (my dad) is a well-known Rolls-Royce collector and Chairman of the Motor Region RROC.
I have restored this automobile with as much care as my Ferrari and am reluctantly selling to make room for my other love, horses.
The title is free and clear and in my possession.
