Lot #123098

This 1966 Jaguar XKE 2+2 coupe is a Series I example that was partially disassembled for refurbishment under previous ownership before being placed in storage. It was acquired from the estate of the previous owner in 2022, and the body was subsequently stripped to bare metal following rust removal. The car is equipped with a 4.2-liter inline-six, a four-speed manual transmission, triple SU carburetors, four-wheel disc brakes, 15” knock-off wire wheels, and a black leather interior. This non-running XKE project is now offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of the current owner with spare and removed parts as well as copies of manufacturer’s literature, historic service records, and an Ohio title listing the car as a 1967 model.

The body was stripped to bare metal under current ownership following rust removal and shows areas of previous body repairs as well as dents and punctures in the left quarter panel. The car features a louvered clamshell hood, and the door glass is missing. Removed parts including bumpers, badges, trim, handles, side mirrors, and the headlight and taillight assemblies are included in the sale.

Corroded 15” wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with older Pirelli Cinturato tires that require replacement. The car is equipped with four-wheel disc brakes with inboard mounted rear units. A second set of four wire wheels is included in the sale.

The 2+2 cabin has been partially stripped. The black leather upholstery on the front bucket seats is cracked, and the rear bench is gouged and torn. The carpets are missing, and corrosion is visible in the floors.

A wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer as well as a tachometer with an inset clock. Supplemental Smiths and Lucas gauges are centrally mounted within the dash. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 58k miles, though total mileage is unknown.

The 4.2L inline-six is equipped with triple SU carburetors and is paired with a four-speed manual transmission.

The cylinder head stamping is shown above.

Corrosion is visible on the underbody and various components.

A collection of spare and removed parts will accompany the car.

The Ohio title carries a “Non-Actual Warning: Odometer Discrepancy” mileage notation.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
