Ebay item 6/19/06
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-OTS-jaguar-xke-convertible-concours-winner ...
Current bid $1,000 reserve not met, 1 bid, 6 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
This beautiful, low mileage, very original, matching numbers car has just had a complete 3 year nut and bolt, documented, restoration and is the #1 car in Jaguar Clubs of North America (JCNA) concours championship class for Series I ½ & II XKEs in the Southeastern US. At the fall show hosted by JCOF this car scored 99.98. She is ready to show or go with confidence.
After receiving awards in the driven class, the car was completely stripped including every nut, bolt and rivet, and all paint was stripped by media blasting (does not leave a chemical residue as dipping will do and does not distort the metal panels as sand blasting does). The body was mounted on a jig to maintain alignment and then the floors and sills were replaced with new Martin Robey panels. All panels were primed with epoxy to assure maximum protection, and minor waves in the metal were filled with an epoxy based filler to guarantee permanence. PPG “sanding surfacers” were block sanded to smooth any surface imperfections in preparation for the PPG Deltron 2000 topcoat immediately followed by multiple coats of urethane clearcoat. Underside of car received 3M rubberized undercoater and the insides of the body sections received rustproofing to insure a quiet and long lived body. All body rubber was replaced and all bolts and small plated parts were replated as original..
The 4.2L engine was completely stripped and a 1st class engine rebuilding was completed by Coventry West of Atlanta. During the process, the intake valves and seats were enlarged to 1 7/8” for improved breathing, and “hold downs” for the tappet guides were installed to prevent their ever loosening. The crankshaft, rods and pistons were balanced for the smoothest running engine and an alloy flywheel was fitted for better acceleration. The 4 speed transmission and limited slip differential were each disassembled, cleaned, inspected and reassembled with new seals. Exhaust gasses now pass through a beautiful stainless steel system.
Rear suspension, hubs and drive shaft were all rebuilt with new ‘U’ joints, seals, bushings and bearings as needed. Drive shafts, springs, sway bars, trailing arms, cage, torsion bars and shields were all powder coated, front suspension received new cadmium plating, seals, ball joints and bushings. Steering rack was rebuilt with new tie rod ends, bushings, seals and bellows. All 5 wheels were replaced with Dayton balanced and retrued chrome wire rims with polished stainless steel spokes and new Verdistine 185-15 speed rated radial tires that are balanced and shaved for a smooth ride.
All electrical wiring was replaced including all connectors for a trouble free system. All electrical components were disassembled, cleaned and rebuilt as necessary. Alternator was increased in size to handle heavier loads of air conditioning. Clock was updated to run off main electrical system so that it doesn’t need the original obsolete battery and radiator fans were updated to ‘round style’ motor for better air flow. Everything is in perfect working order. Brake system was completely rebuilt with stainless steel pistons, copper nickel brake lines, new hoses, replated front calipers, new pads, turned and trued discs and remote bleeders for the rear brakes. Clutch system is all new. An all new air conditioning system was fitted to look like the original but this unit is quieter and cools much better.
Interior is completely new with Muncie Imports doing a beautiful job of rebuilding the seats (including new foam, diaphragms, wood and back filler with frames blasted and painted in the correct color), and the dash top and facia recoverd beautifully. Dynamat was installed inside the doors, on the shaft tunnel, floors, toe boards and over the rear drive to keep the interior cool and quiet. Steering wheel is rebuilt with new wood rim. Top frame was stripped and repainted in the correct color and received new polished fasteners and a new vinyl convertible top. Most chrome plated parts were either replated to show standards or replaced. All glass was replaced. The Owner’s manual and Heritage Certificate and original tools are all included.
The list is endless and there is not enough room to detail everything here. Suffice it to say that every part on this car was either replated, repainted, rebuilt or replaced to insure an XKE that is more beautiful and dependable than original. No corners were cut and no cost was spared.
