    Ebay item 1/17/05
    cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Opening bid $19,000.00, no reserve, no bids yet 6 days left in auction.

    Sellers description:
1970 Jaguar E Type Roadster, 4.2 liter, 6 cylinders, 53,900 original miles, Regency Red (darker shade / burgundy - original color), matching numbers, factory A/C, factory radio, chrome wire wheels.

This is my husband's personal car. It is a very nice everyday driver. We have had it for almost three years, and he has used it as such. During this time, all that we have had to do has been regular maintenance, oil and filter change, tune-up, adjusted the brakes, and changed the fuel pump to a generic one. We still have the original fuel pump, and perhaps, it just needs new points, nevertheless, we drive it with the current generic one. It has never overheated, not even in the hot Miami weather. It has good oil pressure. It has never let us down. There are some books and records. The previous owner was an airline pilot, and he bought the car in 1998 from Hyman Ltd. in Missouri (an excellent dealer). Also, if you care for such things, and if you are are into "dance music", this car has celebrity ownership.

This is not a "show car". It is an everyday driver, and not a perfect car. My husband was going to have it completely restored, but I persuaded him to sell it, and instead restore our vintage yacht.

    For the condition:
    1. As mentioned, it is an everyday driver, and not a "show queen".
    2. It does not overheat. It has good oil pressure.
    3. All electrics and gauges work, except the clock (this is common - typical wire ground in the back of clock) .
    4. It has the original radio.
    5. This is a factory A/C car, but does not have the compressor and condenser, hence, it is not connected, nor functioning (we bought it this way, so there is no way of knowing more).
    6. As far as we know, it has never been in an accident. The doors fit is excellent, and the body panels are straight. The bonnet (hood) is straight and shows no sign of ever being damaged. The paint is older and faded. There is an area in the frame where the frame has been brazed or reinforced. I had this checked out by a Jaguar mechanic, Victor's Service, a Jaguar and Ferrari Specialist in San Antonio, TX before buying it, and he said that it was fine. I also had it checked by my mechanic in Miami, and he said that it was fine as well. The previous owner said that when he bought the car (from Hyman Ltd.), it was the same, and he was also assured that it was fine by the seller, as well as his own mechanic. Neither the previous owner, nor I have had any problem with this.
    7. The interior looks good. The leather seats are good, as well as the door panels and carpet.
    8. The hood (soft top) is in good condition, but the rear window is foggy.
    9. All chrome is in good condition.
    10. The engine compartment is very clean.
    11. The tires are in good condition (50%).
    12. It has an "Optima" battery.
    13. It drives nice with plenty of power.

For the needs - We were going to have the following done:

    1. New paint.
    2. New floors put in (the floors have rust), and have minor miscellaneous overall rust spots repaired (nothing major).
    3. Clean up the brazing / reinforcement on the frame (see picture).
    4. A new rear window sawn into the convertible top, and replace its rubber seals.
    5. It needs a manifold gasket replaced.

    OVERSEAS BUYERS !!!!
Our loss is your gain. With the recent exchange rate, this could be a very inexpensive car for you, specially England.

If you are looking for a "Show Queen", this is NOT. However, this car is the perfect candidate for a basis of a full restoration, and the potential is limitless. Otherwise, it can continue as it is being used now, an everyday driver.

Please, notice that neither my husband nor I are mechanics. We are enthusiasts who love to drive our cars, and then pass them on so that we can enjoy different ones.

We encourage that you have this vehicle inspected before placing a bid. This car is sold in an "as is" basis. There is no warranty stated or implied.

Current bid $20,000 reserve not met, 1 bid 5 days left in auction. Buy it now price $38,000. Car now said to be in Memphis, Tennessee. 57k miles.

    Sellers description:
Brought back to the way it was intended to be with triple SU Carburetors. This is a nice XKE ready to be driven and enjoyed. It have very attractive Regency Red (burgandy) exterior with biscuit (tan) leather and black soft top. The paint is in very good condition without any dings or scratches. The painting and all the chrome was removed and the rubber seals were replaces. Panel fit is very good with very good bonnet gaps. There are no signs of serious prior accident damage or rust problems. Chrome bumpers and trim are very good, and so are the chrome wire wheels with new chrome spinners. Hidden electronic ignition has been added. Only known problem is a short in the windshield wiper motor. This is a matching number car, the paint and interior colors are the original as it left the factory; this qualifies for a Jaguar Heritage Certificate. If this vehicle is not as represented upon personal inspection, I will promptly refund your deposit.
