This 1970 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster was acquired by the seller in 1990 and refurbished by British European Auto Repair of San Pedro, California between 1990 and 1991. The 4.2-liter inline-six was rebuilt and the car was refinished in British Racing Green over tan leather. Equipment includes a four-speed manual transmission, a tan soft top, 15″ Dayton knock-off wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, and Koni shocks. This Series II XKE shows 45k miles and is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, service records, and a clean Washington title in the seller’s name.
The car was stripped to bare metal and repainted in Glasurit British Racing Green during the build, at which time a replacement rear body panel was leaded in. Exterior features include a replacement tan convertible top, a louvered clamshell hood, sealed-beam open headlights, wraparound chrome bumpers, a driver-side mirror, and dual exhaust outlets. LED lighting has been fitted, apart from the headlights.
The 15×6″ Dayton stainless-steel knock-off wire wheels are mounted with 205/70R15 Michelin Defender tires. The car is equipped with a four-wheel independent suspension and Koni shock absorbers. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors and stainless-steel lines.
The cabin features bucket seats reupholstered in Light Tan leather, which are complemented by a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpets. A custom center console with rocker switches was installed during the refurbishment, at which time the air conditioning system was removed. A Kenwood CD player is also installed, and the factory steering wheel has been fitted with a thicker rim.
Instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 45k miles, approximately 30k of which were added under current ownership.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was rebuilt between 1990 and 1991. It is equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors that were repaired in 2018.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The gearbox was resealed in July 2018, and a stainless-steel exhaust system has been installed.
A Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, an owner’s manual, service records, restoration photos, spare parts, and a car cover are included in the sale.
