Car to be at auction 5/15
www.coys.co.uk/auction.php

Auction description:
Lot 235 - 1969 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 Series II Fixedhead Coupe
Estimate: £40,000 - £50,000
Registration Number: VTX 683G
Chassis Number: IR20213

This beautiful original UK-delivered Fixedhead Coupe is offered with an extensive file of restoration and maintenance work dating back to 1978. A comprehensive rebuild was undertaken in 2000, involving many new panels such as wings and sill sections. The engine has been rebuilt twice in the car's history, firstly in 1981 by the Jaguar factory, and more recently by well known marque specialist Rob Beere. Beere treated it to various upgrades to improve usability and outright performance. The gearbox and rear differential were also rebuilt to exacting standards.

VTX 683G has benefitted from stainless steel manifolds and exhausts, uprated (Koni) suspension, thicker anti-roll bars, uprated brakes, and the fitting of wider road wheels on lower profile tyres. Bills are on file for an estimated £32,000 plus of restoration and upgrade work, in addition to the earlier rebuild.

The output of this considered program of restoration and development work is a beautiful E-Type which is also immensely powerful, practical and reliable. Offered with two thick history files, current and previous MoTs and the original tool kit, this is a fabulously well sorted fast road car which is begging to be enjoyed straight away.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
