Current seller wrote following note to me:

I have some numbers for you. Car#1R25585,
Body# 4R20728,
Engine 7R3447-9,
Gear Box# KE4829.

I had difficulty trying to find numbers on the block and cylinder head. Will have to wait for my husband to get home Friday to get those. I just got off the phone with my Dad and he says it's all original.
He bought this car new in 1969 and in 73 he rebuilt the engine. The car sat
in his garage from 1979 until 2001 because he was going to restore it. He never got around to it but did buy lots of parts and had some reupholstery done to it. My husband and I bought it in 2001 to finish the job, but never seem to have the time and money at the same time. We did have it repainted to the original color. Now we are moving and can't take it with us. I hope this helps and as soon as I can figure out where to get the cylinder head and block numbers I will send them to you.

Thanks
Jennie

I bought this car in April 2004 for $10,000 on e bay and shipped it back to the UK. I had at the time another series 2 coupe, restored and on the road, but when this arrived from Jennie in Oregon, I saw how good it was(is) and decided that this would be a keeper so I sold the other one!
Because of lots of other projects it has only been on the road for 2 years, but is my daily driver(I don't go out every day).
The interior is now red, it has a five speed gearbox, fuel injection and
air con(vital in the UK)

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
