The Interior
Superbly retrimmed in black leather
Beautiful wood rimmed steering wheel
Lovely condition
What better way to blow away the cobwebs than to climb into the cabin of an E-Type Roadster, fire it up and head out into the sunshine?
You can settle in behind the attractive three-spoked wood-rimmed steering wheel and take in the Smiths dials and banks of switches which are all in lovely original condition and are all working as intended.
This being a Series 2 car, the seats come with headrests for improved safety and here they have little to no wear to show for their use since the restoration.
Similarly, the carpets are all new and protected by useful rubber overmats and the dashboard itself has a fresh covering over the top. The boot is finished in contrasting beige and houses a CD changer which is wired to the more modern head unit. Under the floor is a full size spare and an original toolkit.
The Exterior
Finished in British Racing Green
Paintwork described as ‘excellent’
New hood
New wire wheels and tyres
Although the car was painted as part of the restoration in the USA, when it was imported to Spain the decision was made to carry out a bare metal respray to British Racing Green, which suits the car well.
It was a high quality job which has left the paintwork smooth and with a deep shine and no orange peel. Since then it has also avoided picking up any marks or scratches and the panel fit is as good as you will find. Some of the chrome has been replaced but it wasn’t necessary for all parts and it’s in excellent order all round.
The new hood is clean and unmarked and the rear window affords good visibility with no damage or fogging. The attractive wire wheels are new and wear a new set of matching Bridgestone tyres.
The underside is particularly clean and tidy and shows no obvious signs of corrosion. In all, it’s a fabulous looking car in great condition which is sure to attract a lot of attention wherever it goes.
The Mechanics
Rear shocks upgraded to Bilsteins
Electronic ignition
New wiring
And, of course, a glorious 4.2 litre straight six
This car has had all the hard work done and really is just ready to be enjoyed by its new owner. It reportedly starts and drives with no little foibles, just grunty acceleration accompanied by a fabulous sporty exhaust note and no crashes, bangs or other noises to worry about.
The handling is arguably better than new with the costly addition of Bilstein rear dampers (there’s four at the rear, let’s not forget) and the brakes provide suitable stopping power. It’s the quintessential sixties sports car experience with some minor modern tweaks to make it even more usable.
Summary
A matching numbers iconic roadster in beautiful condition with a very desirable colour combination that can be used immediately.
