WRITTEN BY THE OWNER:
Restoration:
In 1990 the engine was completely rebuilt and the transmission was dismantled and rebuilt. Installed a new diaphragm clutch assembly complete to engine. The suspension was completely rebuilt. Receipts are available and go with the car. In 2001 the body was stripped down to the metal and a new paint was applied. Also, all new chrome, interior top and interior was installed at that time. (New chrome wire wheels)
Frame:
Since I have owned the car, it was hit in the rear end and received minor damage. It was professionally repaired by a reputable body shop in July 2003. as far as I know, the floor pans and body panels are all original to the car. When the car was repainted it was inspected and the pans were solid and very acceptable.
Suspension:
The car starts and drives very well. The steering is very tight.
Brakes:
The brakes are in very good condition. I don’t know the date of the last rebuild or when they were last repaired. The parking brake is also in working condition.
Body:
The body doesn’t have any rust showing. When I had the body stripped down to the bare metal we also didn’t see any rust. All the panels appear to line up well. In preparing the body for the new paint skim bondo was applied in small areas to even out certain areas. (Very minimal amount used like any vehicle gets when it is restored).
Paint:
The paint is in excellent condition. The color is correct for the year, but it is not the original color.
Chrome:
The chrome is basically all new. I also have the original chrome. I would rate the chrome as nine and a half out of ten if ten is the best.
Interior:
The gauges all work. New convertible top. New chrome on the interior. New front windshield. Original side glass in good/average condition. The interior is very nice, very presentable.
Transmission / Drive Train:
Transmission was rebuilt in 1990. There are currently 5,925 miles since the rebuild. I don’t have any information on the rear end. I believe it is original to the car and it is in good working condition.
Engine:
Engine # 7R1768-9 Original The engine doesn’t smoke. The car has a new alternator installed in 2004 and a new water pump was in stalled in August of 2005.
Exhaust:
The exhaust is in good working condition. The car sounds like a 1969 Jaguar e-Type is supposed to sound.
Additional Information:
The car wasn’t a ground up restoration, however it’s a very good driver. The horn on the car functions by pushing the turn signal. The horn on the steering wheel doesn’t function. I’m selling the car because ‘m going to use the money for retirement. IN addition to the car I have the following parts: 2 new front brake rotors, 2 new oil pumps, wheel bearing kits, rubber hose kit, new voltage regulator, 2 carburetor repair kits, 2 oil filters, new oil pressure sending unit, brake light switch, reverse switch, windscreen washer, new brake hose, shock absorber, master cylinder, interior rear view mirror, new brake ads, original chrome, 4 original chrome wheels, original heater box, Bentley Official XKE workshop manual, Misc. other parts…
