Car to be at auction 7/10
    www.bonhams.com/cgi-bin/public.sh/pubweb/publicSite.r

    Auction description:
Sale 18213 - Collectors' Motor Cars and Automobilia, 2 Jul 2010
Goodwood Festival of Speed, Chichester, Sussex
    Lot No: 372
One previous owner, 35,000 miles from new
    1973 Jaguar E-Type Series III V12 Roadster
    Registration no. 8 HMK
    Chassis no. 1S2036
    Engine no. 7S129425A
    Estimate: £18,000 - 25,000

This right-hand drive Series III roadster has had only one owner prior to the current vendor and covered only 35,000 miles from new, as verified by the complete set of expired MoT certificates on file. Finished in Sable with tan leather interior, the E-Type comes complete with its original hard top, soft top and tonneau cover, and is presented in generally good condition. The original cherished registration '8 HMK' is included in the sale and the car is offered with old-style logbook, current road fund licence, MoT to July 2011 and Swansea V5. Minilite-style alloy wheels, a radio/cassette player and an aerial are the only notified deviations from factory specification. (The original steel wheels come with the car).

    Car returns to auction 9/18
    www.bonhams.com/auctions/24878/lot/310/

    Auction description:

    Lot 310
    1973 Jaguar E-Type Series III V12 Roadster
Registration no. GNT 156M Chassis no. 1S2036
    Sold for £ 78,200 (US$ 102,858) inc. premium
    Goodwood Revival
    8 Sep 2018, 13:00 BST
    Registration no. GNT 156M
    Chassis no. 1S2036
    *Four owners from new
*Partially restored and repainted in 2012
    *Circa 47,000 miles from new
    *Fully documented

This E-Type's first owner was John Foster, a collector who also owned Peter Walker's Jaguar XK120, 'JWK 977', and the Sir Robert Ropner semi-lightweight E-Type. In 2010, the car was offered for sale at Bonhams' Goodwood Festival of Speed auction (Lot 372) by the second owner, John Ramsbottom, and purchased there by SNG Barratt Ltd, who sold it to the current vendor in August 2011.
In 2012, the E-Type was stripped for repainting, while at the same time the suspension bushes, road springs, shock absorbers, clutch, brakes, and hydraulics were all replaced (Bills on file). The private vendor advises us that the car is free of rust and original apart from the change of colour to red (from sable) and that it runs superbly.

The E-Type comes complete with its original tonneau cover, and is offered with a V5C Registration Certificate, historical documents, and all expired MoTs verifying the recorded mileage.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
