This 1971 Jaguar XKE is a Series II roadster is finished in red over black leather upholstery and powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment work under prior ownership reportedly included a repaint, replacing suspension and braking components, overhauling the engine, servicing the transmission, and refreshing the interior. Equipment includes a black soft top, a black top boot, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, a Warneford Design intake manifold with triple Weber carburetors, and an aftermarket stereo paired with Kenwood speakers. This Series II XKE roadster was acquired by the current owner in 2020 and is now offered on dealer consignment in Minnesota with refurbishment photos, spare and removed parts, a car cover, knock-off wheel tools, and a clean Iowa title.
Previously green, the car was repainted in red several decades ago under previous ownership. Features include a black soft top, a louvered hood, a driver-side mirror, triple windshield wipers, chrome bumpers with overriders, and quad exhaust outlets. Paint imperfections are visible and paint chips are noted along the door edges. The seller states that a replacement convertible top will accompany the car.
Replacement 15” knock-off wire wheels are mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires showing 2021 date codes, while a matching spare is stored in the trunk. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes. The selling dealer states the front calipers, were rebuilt, the front wheel bearings were re-packed, and the brake master cylinder, brake lines, brake pads, front shocks, track rod ends, and suspension gators were replaced in 2020.
The cabin was refreshed in 2020 according to the selling dealer, and features include black leather bucket seats along with matching door panels and carpets. The car is equipped with a center console, a locking glove box, and an aftermarket stereo connected to Kenwood speakers. The selling dealer states the pedal box was rebuilt, and the ignition switch, horn relay, headlight switch, brake light switch and heater box seals were replaced during recent refurbishment work. The air conditioning does not work.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and centrally mounted auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 79k miles, approximately 200 of which were added by the current owner. Total mileage is unknown.
The 4.2-liter inline-six is equipped with triple Weber carburetors and a Warneford Design intake manifold. The engine was reportedly rebuilt in 2017, and refurbishment work is said to have included installing Pertronix ignition components and replacing the vacuum, fuel, and heater hoses as well as the fuel pump and filters.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox. The clutch master cylinder was reportedly replaced under prior ownership.
Polaroid photos document the cosmetic refurbishment work completed.
