This left-hand drive E-Type 3.8-litre roadster has been rebuilt to its current lightweight competition configuration over the past five years. Its generous specification includes a rebuilt body tub with new ‘picture frames’, and aluminium alloy bonnet, hardtop, doors and vented boot lid. The cooling system’s water pump, header tank and Lynx high performance radiator likewise are of lightweight aluminium, complemented by Kevlar hoses and high power electric cooling fan.
The high performance 3.8-litre engine is equipped with dry-sump lubrication, oil cooler, triple spark box ignition with tdc sensor, D-Type cam-box breather, and triple 48DCOE Weber carburettors, while the race exhaust manifolds feed a large-bore system. Maximum power of approximately 370bhp is transmitted via a competition clutch to a five-speed Getrag gearbox. The electrical system too has been up-rated: a Lucas alternator conversion being fitted, together with a hi-torque starter motor.
The running gear features Leda shock absorbers, nylon bushes, polyurethane-bushed anti-roll bar, modified steering arms, sealed bottom ball joints, solid-mount rear suspension, competition engine mounts and up-rated springs/torsion bars. AP Racing 4-pot magnesium brake calipers gripping slotted and vented discs are fitted at the front, with S2 calipers and vented discs at the rear. Braided stainless-steel hoses are used throughout and brake bias is adjustable via the Tilton twin master cylinders. Hubs and wheels are peg drive, shod with new Dunlop L-section tyres. Other fitted equipment includes a safety fuel cell feeding the carburettors via braided lines, 7-point fully-welded roll cage, large-capacity fire extinguisher, competition padded steering wheel, heat shields and catch tank in the engine compartment.
Finished in silver with dark blue leather interior, the vehicle is described by the private vendor as in generally excellent condition and offered with current road fund licence/MoT and Swansea V5 registration document.

Originally supplied new to the USA where it was obviously extensively raced in local events. In the course of its time there it acquired a dry sump engine, 5-speed gearbox, lowered floor, non-homologated competition suspension and brakes and lightweight aluminium panels. This work was carried out to a high standard, as can be seen from the current condition of the car.

Returning to England in 2004, the car was traded in to Eagle Racing Ltd. Rather than carry out a full scale rebuild, together with CKL Developments they repainted it in silver, retrimmed it to “lightweight” specification, overhauled the electrics and sold it to a specialist dealer who in turn decided to auction the car. Here the car was bought by the current owner, who decided to restore it to full FIA specification. This work was carried out to a very high standard by marque specialists Pearsons Engineering. The car comes with bills totalling approximately CHF 120’000.- to cover all this work.

This is a very well constructed car, which is totally in-period and promises great fun value in a variety of classic competition. Among a host of acceptable modifications it has a fully welded 7 point roll cage, full harnesses for both aluminium bucket seats, external ignition cut out, heat shields to engine and aluminium catch tank, high performance aluminium radiator, handmade special exhaust system and 16 row oil cooler. It has period style peg-drive alloys with the correct knock-off spinners and safety pins and new Dunlop Racing tyres all-round.

The car is currently ready to take part in classic competitions with FIA Papers and full documentation of all the extensive work carried out. It has British registration documents, Swiss form 13.20A and currently wears the UK registration number 283 XPG. A well sorted car that will continue to give competition pleasure for years to come.

According to the information that comes with this car it was sold originally to the USA where it should have been raced extensively in local events. During these racing years in America the car had been fitted with a dry-sump engine, 5-speed gearbox, lowered floor, non homologated competition suspension and brakes and lightweight aluminium panels. All this work was done to a very high level.
In 2004 the racing E-type was bought by a UK enthusiast and it returned to England. Later it was sold to a Swiss enthusiast who decided to have the car restored at great cost to full and correct FIA specifications by a UK Jaguar specialist.

In 2007 the present owner of this car purchased it and gave it into the hands of a UK racing-specialist to have the car set-up to his personal taste and specifications. He also had an aluminium block racing-engine constructed for the car to be used besides the extra steel block engine.

The owner raced this car in various International events, such as the Spa 6-hours, Tour Auto, Master Series, Portimão & Porto race-meeting and the October 2013 Jerez Historic Festival.
With the car will come a FIA HTP that has been issued in April 2009 by the MSA for Period F (1962-1965) and FIA Class GTS12.
