I was wondering how I might contact Lippicott's of Reading, PA. to see if I might have one of my own 1963 OTS cars restored to the quality of condition that the one here has been restored to. It looks like a first rate job all the way around and I would like more information. Please feel free to e-mail me if you have the time. Thanks for any assistance that you might provide. Have a great day and enjoy!
    Kindest regards,
    Bob Myers

I have a 1968 Jag XKE conv. that I am looking to restore as a nice driver. It is in good "restorable condition" I was wondering how the service and experience was at Lippicott's in Reading. And also the cost.

Current bid $50,600 reserve not met 22 bids, 9 days left in auction. 35k miles.

    Sellers description:
The 1961 Series I E-Type Roadster offered here is a "flat-floor" model with outside latches built August 17, 1961 and delivered to Jaguar Cars New York on September 13, 1961. The car was delivered to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

A meticulous and completely authentic nut and bolt restoration by Lippincott's of Reading, Pennsylvania was completed in 2004. Accompanying the car in the sale is a pictorial history and restoration receipts. This car looks and drives better than when it left the factory in 1961.

The Jaguar has been driven less than 700 ideal weather miles since the restoration and has been kept in a heated garage. A Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, a Jaguar 3.8 "E" Type Service Manual and Jaguar E-Type The definitive history, by Philip Porter accompany the car.

This is a desirable vintage vehicle, however it is 47 years old and does not come with any guarantees or warrantees.

    Sellers description:
Ground up restoration by a noted restoration expert in original colors acording to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate. This is the 295th Series I XKE shipped to the States. It has outside latches, flat floors and welded louvers. The engine and drivetrain are rebuilt and perform as new. Enhancements to improve driving in todays world include upgraded radiator and fans along with larger wheels and tires.

The Jaguar has been driven only 978 ideal weather miles since the restoration and always stored in a controled environment. Handling and ride quality along with the powerful sound of the exhaust make for a wonderful driving experience.

Car to be at auction 2/20

    rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/pa20/paris/lots/r0060-1961-jaguar-e-type-series-1-38- ...

    Auction description:

    1961 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8-Litre Roadster

    RM | Sotheby's - PARIS 5 FEBRUARY 2020

    Lot Number 156

    Sold For €161,000

    Chassis No. 875295

    Engine No. R 1421-9

One of 385 early flat-floor Series 1 roadsters built

Beautifully restored and ready to be enjoyed

From the flat floors to the exterior bonnet latches, Chassis no. 875295 carries all the characteristics of the early Series 1 roadsters. The 295th E Type roadster built, it was completed on 17 August 1961. It was then dispatched to Jaguar Cars New York on 13 September 1961; the car was delivered to Paul Sykes of West Conshocken, Pennsylvania.

While its early history is unknown, the car was restored to concours condition approximately 10 years ago by noted E-Type restorers Lippincott’s Garage of Reading, Pennsylvania. At that time it was fitted with an upgraded radiator and gearbox of a Series 1 4.2-litre E-type for enhanced drivability. More recently, the car spent a good number of years at one of Germany’s finest sports car collections and was serviced on a regular basis yet was hardly ever driven. The current owner sent the car to Classic Motor Cars, a well-known German marque specialist, for further work to enhance originality.

Chassis no. 875295 offers a superb chance to experience the best that Jaguar had to offer. With limited mileage since its high-quality restoration, it remains in excellent condition and would make an ideal partner for any number of tours and rallies.

    Bonhams Goodwood Members' Meeting Auction

    Date: 16-04-2023

    Location: United Kingdom

    1961 Jaguar E-Type Series I 3.8-Litre 'Flat Floor' Roadster | Bonhams Goodwood Members' Meeting Auction | 16 April 2023

The 295th left-hand drive 'Flat Floor' roadster

    Delivered new to the USA

    Outside bonnet locks

Professionally restored in the USA 2003-2004

    Present ownership since 2020

The 295th left-hand drive 'Flat Floor' roadster made, this rare early E-Type was completed on 17th August 1961 and distributed by Jaguars Cars, New York, USA. The original colour scheme was Carmen Red paintwork with a black leather interior. Little else is known of the car's early history in the United States.

On 14th October 2003, the E-Type was purchased from Jaguar specialists Lippincott's Garage of Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania by Mr Jeffrey G Breneiser (purchase receipt on file). Mr Breneiser immediately commissioned Lippincott (still in business as Jaguar specialists) to undertake a restoration, which was completed in April 2004. The works included fitting an uprated radiator and the all-synchromesh gearbox from a 4.2-litre Series 1. Restoration costs totalled $64,000 and all related invoices are available.

Mr Breneiser owned the car until 30th December 2009, at which point he sold it to Wilfried Neuhaus-Gallade in Germany. In February 2020 Mr Gallade offered the E-Type for sale at a Paris auction where it was purchased by the current owner and brought to the UK. The car comes with a current V5C document; copies of German registration papers and TüV sheets; a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate; and the aforementioned invoices. A wonderful opportunity to acquire a sought-after outside bonnet lock 'Flat Floor' E-Type in beautiful condition.
