Sellers comment:
This is a nice "very original" 1964 Jaguar XKE Type 3.8 Roadster. It has 32,643 original miles on it and still runs very strong.
Features:
- Original Fiberglass hard top.
- Original documentation, owners manual, receipts.
- ANSA Performance exhaust
- New battery, generator, and voltage regulator.
- New seat leathers (Black).
- Original tool roll, lift kit, and knock off hammer.
- Spare Parts: Clutch spring plate & throw out bearing, and tail light assembly.
HISTORY/NOTES:
I inherited this Jag from my father who was the original owner. I have the original Bill of Sale dated June 24,1964. He only drove this car for 2or 3 years before he became afflicted with Multiple Sclerosis which rendered him unable to drive a car with a manual transmission. Hence, the low original mileage. In the mid '70s when I became driving age, my parents decided to restore the car mechanically to driving condition after having sat in our garage for approximately 10 years. Shortly after that restoration it received its current color. Original color was (Sand). I have all of the service records this car has received since then.
Vehicle Condition
This car is a great weekend driver and turns alot of heads. It has a Softball size dent in the front left fender and usual scratches and dings associated with daily driving. There is a minor spot of surface rust under the bonnet and rear boot deck pan. Interior is like new. Chrome & Brightwork "Average", Convertible top is very good, Original spare chrome wire wheel like new with its original dunlop tire. My personal assesment and final thoughts are: Very structurally, and mechanically sound, exceptional handling, and a very awesome car to drive!

Entered additional numbers from data plate as supplied by current owner/seller. Asked why he was selling car if it had been in the family so long and got the following answer:
Over the years my interest in this car has waned, and have no children
or heir apparent. None of my immediate family are interested in the car, and a few of my close friends have only expressed a mild interest in the car.
Therefore, I've decided to sell this car, hopefully, to someone that will give it a good home, and enjoy it as my family once did.
Furthermore, If this "rare and original" Jag does not sell at auction,
I will take the necessary restoration steps to a concours level and
relist it in the low $60K area.

I'm sure he will with his waning interest

Well I bought it. I Actually got on ebay to see what the3.8 engine, trans and chrome I have strored for 34 years was worth and ended up buying the green monster . The story is that the original owners wife had it repainted at the Jag Shop to surprise her husband who had went into the hospital with a heart attack. His son said when his dad saw his car he almost had another heart attack. Give me a year and it will be a "10". BG

I saw this on ebay and considered buying. I have a 61 roadster # 875295 that had a ground up restoration and was looking for one to restore as a driver, I can't believe that I stumbled on this car again. Other than color it looked good. Take care of it and please post some pictures when the green is gone! If you get tired of it let me know...

What a COOL color! I know, it is not original but hopefully it will be preserved (even through a repaint!).
