    Sellers description:
1970 Jaguar E-Type Series II fixed head coupe.

This rare Jaguar has been well kept and maintained in a private collection for the past 30 years. It is in beautiful condition with very minor imperfections and only 38,470 original miles. The engine runs strong and it drives like a dream. It features a vintage air A/C system that keeps the car nice and cold on those hot summer days. Dont miss this chance to own this collector quality Jaguar with patina and records for the past 30 years. It has recently been serviced and detailed for its new owner. Bidders are welcome to come see the car before placing your bid.
The reserve has been set low for a quick and easy sale.

    Lot #70954

This 1970 Jaguar XKE is a Series II coupe that has been refinished in black over tan and is powered by a numbers-matching 4.2L inline-six paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. Features include triple SU carburetors, an aluminum radiator, ventilated 15″ alloy wheels, Wilwood front disc brakes, Gaz coilovers, Classic Auto Air air conditioning, and a push-button AM/FM radio. Under previous ownership, the exterior was refinished and the interior was refreshed, and work after the seller acquired the car in 2017 included resealing the gearbox, replacing the clutch, and overhauling the suspension, steering, and brakes. This Series II XKE is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, five wire wheels with knockoffs, spare parts, two books, service records, and a clean New Mexico title in the seller’s name.

The car was delivered new in Pale Primrose Yellow and was refinished approximately 10 years ago under previous ownership, at which point the floors were replaced. The seller has replaced the headlights and notes a scratch in roof as well as a dent with touch-up paint on the bonnet.

Ventilated 15″ alloy wheels are installed along with replacement two-ear knockoffs and Vredestein Sprint Classic tires that measure 205/70 at each corner. The seller states that work since 2017 included installing Gaz adjustable coilovers as well as a Wilwood front disc-brake system with cross-drilled rotors and braided steel brake hoses. The front control arms were powder-coated, and the bushings, the steering rack, tie-rod ends, and power-steering hoses are said to have been replaced.

The interior was reupholstered in tan leather under previous ownership, at which time sound insulation was installed in the floors. A push-button AM/FM radio is mounted under the dash, and a Classic Auto Air air-conditioning system has been installed. The heater core has reportedly been replaced, however, the system is missing its controls and other items. The seller added rubber floor mats and notes that the passenger-side door should be adjusted and has damaged its rear weatherstripping seal.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of a black dashboard housing Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer in addition to a clock and auxiliary gauges in a wood-trimmed center section. The five-digit odometer shows 40k miles, approximately 2k of which have been added by the seller. True mileage is unknown.

The 4.2-liter inline-six utilizes triple SU carburetors, an aluminum radiator, and ceramic-coated Quicksilver stainless-steel headers that feed a 2″ exhaust. The seller states that the water pump, engine mounts, ignition coil, spark plugs, and ignition harness were replaced under their ownership along with the heater valve and fan relays. Evidence of older yellow paint is visible in the engine bay.

The engine stamping reads 7R11176-9 and matches the engine number shown on the Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate it has matching gearbox and chassis stampings.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Under the seller’s ownership, the clutch assembly and clutch cylinders were replaced and the flywheel resurfaced. Other work is said to have included a gearbox reseal and new mounts for the independent rear suspension. Corrosion is noted toward the front of the frame.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate indicates an April 7, 1970, date of manufacture, the factory color scheme, and delivery to New York as well as the chassis, body, and drivetrain numbers.

Five wire wheels with Firestone tires and knockoffs are included along with replacement rear brake rotors, a gear-reduction starter, a car cover, and two Jaguar books.

Included service records date back to the 1980s.
