Current bid $3,000.00 (Reserve not met), 1 bid, 9 days left in auction. Buy it now price $12,500. Complete VIN J70P1R44192BW.

An elegant and original 1970 Jaguar XKE 2+2 Coupe. It is in very nice condition and has been a California car its entire life until approximately 3 years ago when I brought it to Oregon. This XKE has been garaged the entire time I have owned it and was never driven in rain, snow or any kind of damp weather.

This E-type has not been brought back from the dead, taken apart and restored. Rather, it is an original car that has been lovingly cared for and maintained for all these years. This car presents a unique opportunity for someone who appreciates the Jaguar E-type, yet may not be in the position to spend $20K - $40K (or more) for a pristine example.

Because the car is very original, not to mention 36 years old, there are some things that keep it from being "perfect". Although the body is straight and rust free, the paint could use a respray. It is still presentable and shows nicely. The chrome is original and shines nicely for the most part. There are some chips to the paint (all touched up with more or less matching paint) and small dings in the bumper guards, and a few other imperfections. The wire wheels are beautiful and in excellent shape since they were brought up to near perfect condition about 2 years ago when I had all broken spokes replaced. Glass is all good, no cracks, etc.

Biscuit interior is in very nice condition. Gauges work and function properly. Leather interior still soft, comfortable and supportive. Headrests are worn, but still presentable. Headliner, door panels and dash are in very good condition.

I am now offering this car for sale because age and health make it necessary for me to part with my XKE. Age of me and the car also. This beautiful Jag needs attention to a smoking problem soon, and I am not up to repairing it.

MECHANICALLY: This car runs pretty well. Starts every time, though with some coaxing in cold weather, especially after sitting for a couple of weeks. It has been serviced on a regular basis and though it smokes and uses oil, most old Jags do.

At 80 mph, the steering is smooth with no shakes or shimmies though the power steering needs work. Brakes are good and stop in a straight line. Rare factory A/C needs service also. There’s no tapping or strange noises. Leaks oil the same as other E-types. Temperature stays cool and fan relays kick on when supposed to.

Engine and transmission serial numbers match original numbers on factory plate.

PARTS: Car now has a Mallory dual point distributor and the original distributor which needs service is included. The original air conditioning compressor and parts have been removed from the car and are included for rebuilding (believe all original AC parts are here but not absolutely sure).

Also included is a spare spoked wheel which needs some spokes replaced. That is the 6th wheel, as all 4 running wheels and the spare are all in very good condition. Tires have lots of tread and should last for a long time

Miscellaneous other spare parts, repair manuals, and numerous hardbound XKE books will go with car also. Some repair and parts purchase reciepts will go with the car.

I have owned this car for approximately 3 years and driven it less than 1,000 miles. The mileage shown on the odometer has not been altered since my ownership. I make no claims as to it's authenticity.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
