Opening bid $20,000 reserve not met, no bids yet 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1973 Jaguar E Type Series III V12 Open Two Seater (OTS). Original representation of one of the most classic British sports cars of all time. This matching numbers automobile has had some restoration work done on the body and mechanical. It is currently in "daily driver" condition and has been for the past seven years. In the summertime it is actually driven occasionally as represented by the original mileage of only 35,000 miles. The body is free of rust, the underside is clean but has some surface rust. The body is in good condition with a few bubbles on the bonnet that will need attention, otherwise there a a couple of minor dents and scratches. The interior of the car is original and some restoration work has been done (new door panels, sun visors, floor mats) and a complete new carpet kit is included, but not installed. The black vinyl convertible top is in good condition and there is a new Navy Blue replacement top included with the car. Mechanically the car is very good and has had much work completed: cooling system, new hoses, new radiator, new fans, new clutch, new brakes, master cylinder, carburetor rebuild, electrical, alternator.

I have owned the car for 10 years and am the third registered owner. The car did sit for approximately 15 years when I bought it which is why so much mechanical work was necessary. Last year (2010), because of the beautiful summer weather experienced in Ontario, I was able to drive it more than usual and it performed very well. Under my care the car has always been well looked after by one of the finest Jaguar mechanics in Ontario (Michael MacLauglin Motorworks, Kingston).

Current Bid: $30,000 Ends In: 6 days
Lot #4743

37,580 Miles
5.3L V12
4-Speed Manual Gearbox
Repainted in Original Color
New Top and Boot
Electronic Ignition
New Dayton Wire Wheels
Private Party or Dealer: Private Party

This 1973 Jaguar XKE Roadster is a Series III example purchased by the seller out of Canada in 2011 as a basis for refurbishment. Equipped with a 5.3L V12 and 4-speed manual transmission, the car received a repaint in the original color, re-chromed bumpers, a new top and boot from Original Jaguar Interiors, and more as detailed below. It is said to remain in stock specifications apart from an electronic ignition, and an aftermarket stereo head unit. The seller reports $35k in work has been performed since his purchase, while the previous owner spent about $25k. An appraisal conducted by the previous owner in 2009 states that the engine is original and that the carburetors were rebuilt in 2005. This XKE is sold with a Jaguar Heritage Certificate and a clean Ohio title in the seller's name.

After acquiring the car, the seller had it repainted by the Muncie Imports Jaguar Restoration Center to correct several paint issues noted in the attached inspection report from the previous owner. The seller has also fitted new Dayton wire wheels and a quad-tip stainless steel exhaust. The blue convertible top and matching boot have also been replaced during the seller's ownership with new items from Original Jaguar Interiors. A small dimple is noted in the chrome trim on the passenger's door.

The inspection report notes scrapes and blemishes to the nose, notably around the radiator scoop below the main grille. The seller had these issues tended to by Muncie Imports Jaguar Restoration Center while the car was in for paint. A new grille and surround were installed, and the bumpers were re-chromed at the same time. Standard US lighting is still in place, including the side marker lights. A small chip is present low in the windshield, below eye level.

Apart from a modern stereo head unit, the cabin retains a stock appearance with minimal wear and tear apparent. The interior trim color is correct as noted on the Jaguar Heritage Certificate, while the original radio and speakers are included as pictured in the gallery. The original shift knob is included as well. The clock and the heater blower are not working, though no other issues are noted. The 37,600 miles indicated are believed to be accurate.

The 5.3L V12 has been modified with electronic ignition but otherwise remains in stock specification. The V12 was rated at 250 horsepower when new, making the XKE V12 one of the fastest luxury GT cars of its day. During the seller's ownership, the car has received a rebuild of the front suspension, new battery and cables, new fuel pump and sending unit, and a stainless steel exhaust. The included inspection report notes that the car was in good mechanical order prior to the seller's purchase, and notes the following work performed between 2005 and 2008:

Carburetors rebuilt, new alternator, clutch, and electronic ignition fitted; 2005
Radiator re-cored, new hoses and electric fans fitted; 2008
New front and rear disc brakes, plus fuel and brake lines as needed; 2005
Fuel tank cleaned and new fuel pump fitted; 2005
Rear end serviced and checked; 2005
Steering rack noted as new

Per the inspection report, the forward frame members have been professionally rebuilt at some point in the life.

Records are available for all work performed except for the paintwork. Expenditures by the seller and previous owner are reported to total over $60k, with $25k coming from the previous owner and $35k from the seller.

Probably one of the best well sorted V-12 E-types that is actually driven weekly!!! Performed perfectly all year. It has been over 10 years since I have seen an E-type on the road...Shame......Just changed the oil and covering it up for the winter. Will send the clock out this month for conversion then everything will be up to snuff...

This 1973 Jaguar XKE roadster is finished in silver over a blue interior, and power is supplied by a 5.3-liter V12 mated to a four-speed manual transmission. The seller purchased the car out of Ontario, Canada in 2011, after which it was repainted and refurbished with a replacement blue soft top and boot, rechromed bumpers, a Kenwood CD stereo, Dayton knock-off wire wheels, and an electronic ignition. The car was previously listed by the same seller on BaT in June 2017. This Series III XKE is now offered with a car cover, a set of E-Type chrome-finished steel wheels, service records dating back to 2005, a Jaguar Heritage certificate, and a clean Ohio title in the seller’s name.

The car was repainted silver in July 2013 by Muncie Imports and Classics of Muncie, Indiana. The grille and surround trim were replaced and the bumpers and trim were also refinished in 2013 by Custom Metal Finishing Indiana of Hagerstown, Indiana. Other exterior features include a replacement blue soft top and top boot, a chrome driver-side mirror, and quad exhaust tips.

Chrome-finished 15″ Dayton wire wheels with two-eared knock-offs are wrapped in 205/70 Bridgestone Insignia SE 200 whitewall tires manufactured in 2011. The front lower ball joints were replaced in 2011. An additional set of E-type steel wheels is included in the sale.

The interior is trimmed in blue leather with matching door panels and carpeting, offset by a black dashboard. A Kenwood CD stereo with a USB input has been added to the center stack.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and center-mounted auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer displays 41k miles, approximately 5,800 of which have been added by the seller.

The 5.3-liter V12 is equipped with quad Stromberg carburetors and has been modified with an electronic ignition. An exhaust leak was repaired and the exhaust system was refurbished in 2018, and various gaskets were replaced and the oil was changed in December 2020 in preparation for the sale. Work was performed by Specialty Sports Cars of Columbus, Ohio, and service invoices and parts receipts from current and prior ownership are included. Power is routed to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.

The Jaguar Heritage certificate lists factory serial numbers and shows a manufacture date of March 2, 1973 along with original distribution to Canada.
