Current bid $5,100.10 reserve not met, 2 bids 6 days left in auction. Buy it now price $52,000. Approx 85k miles.

Sellers description:
Really nice 1974 Jaguar XKE Series III E-Type V-12 OTS Roadster for sale. 4 speed manual. Air Conditioning. Wire Wheels. Factory Hardtop. Original British Leyland AM/FM Stereo Radio.

Fully sorted older restoration that's aged beautifully. Always garaged and covered. Never sees rain or salt. Absolutely no rust. 24,980 miles showing. Story I got from the previous owner is that the odometer was replaced when the car was restored in the early 90's. He thought it had about 60k on it before then. I've had it 7 years and put on just under 6000 miles.

Needs nothing mechanically. I've spent almost $20,000 (receipts included) getting her to run and drive perfectly. All work done by reputable Jaguar specialists. Everything works. Ice cold A/C. Runs great and pulls strong. No smoke. Never runs hot, even in 100 degree weather. Perfect wire wheels with good tires.

Cosmetically excellent. Recently had stone chips repaired and interior refreshed. New headrest foam. New door seals and many other new parts. Only weak spot may be the older soft top. But I've only put it up once in 7 years :)

Lot #121989

This 1974 Jaguar E-Type Series III roadster is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The car is said to have been first delivered in Canada, and it was later relocated to California. The seller acquired it in 2012, and the interior was subsequently reupholstered in biscuit leather. Features include a replacement soft top, a top boot, four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, 15” wire wheels, a stainless steel exhaust finisher, quadruple carburetors, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, an aftermarket stereo, and air conditioning. The clutch slave cylinder, ball joints, tie rod ends, and oil, air, and fuel filters are to have been replaced in preparation for the sale. This Series III E-Type is now offered with the owner’s manual, service records, spare parts, a car cover, and a clean Arizona title in the seller’s name.

A refinish in dark blue is said to have been completed in the 1990s, and re-chromed European-spec bumpers were fitted. Features include a replacement soft top and matching top boot, uncovered headlights, European-spec tail and front turn signal lenses, a forward-hinged louvered hood, a power antenna, and a stainless steel exhaust finisher. Stone chip paint touch-ups beneath the headlight buckets and paint cracks under the V12 emblem on the trunk are noted. The removed rubber bumpers are included in the sale.

The 15″ wire-spoke wheels are secured with knock-off spinners and are mounted with an older set of 205/70 Pirelli P400 Touring tires. The Series III E-Type was factory equipped with power steering, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors. A Heidts power steering valve is fitted and the ball joints and tie rod ends are said to have been replaced in 2023.

The cabin was reupholstered under current ownership and features Biscuit leather seating surfaces as well as a replacement center console, dash pad, and door cards. Interior amenities include a Custom Autosound AM/FM radio, Coco floor mats, wind-up windows, a locking glovebox, and air conditioning. A rust spot is noted on the trunk floor. The removed head unit is included in the sale.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. The seller notes that the tachometer works intermittently. An analog clock along with auxiliary gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 29k miles, approximately 4k of which were added under current ownership.

The 5.3-liter V12 was factory equipped with quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and was rated at 241 horsepower and 285 lb-ft of torque when new. The carburetors were rebuilt 2019 and service in preparation for the sale included an oil change and the replacement of the oil, air, and fuel filters. Smog equipment was removed under previous ownership, and the seller notes oil seepage from the oil filter housing.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The clutch slave cylinder is said to have been replaced in 2023.

Spare and removed parts and a tool kit are included in the sale.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
