Car returns to auction 4/18
bringatrailer.com/listing/1969-jaguar-xke-coupe-5/
Current Bid: $32,000 Ends In: 1 day, car now said to be in Newport Beach, California.
Sellers description:
This 1969 Jaguar XKE spent time in Florida and Alabama prior to its acquisition by the seller from the estate of its previous owner in 2015. Power is from a 4.2L inline-six that is paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox and received top-end work from Historic Race Engineering in 2017. A new fuel tank and brake cylinders were fitted prior to the seller's ownership, while more recent work included installation of a new master cylinder, steering rack bushings, and hoses as well as a set of MSW wire wheels and new Vredestein tires. Now located in southern California, the car is offered with spares and tools as well as a clean California title.
The seller believes that the car was at least partially repainted in factory British Racing Green in the mid-1990s, though the full extent of the paintwork is unknown. The seller describes occasional chips in the finish along with some bubbling on the driver-side rocker panel.
A set of MSW 6″ wire wheels were installed during the seller's ownership and are mounted with fresh Vredestein tires. The factory wheels are included in the sale along with a box of spares and a tool kit.
The tan leather seats are believed to have been recovered by a previous owner and a Nardi steering wheel has been fitted in place of the original. The seller notes that the horn does not work and that the heater may be stuck partially open.
Just under 7,200 miles are shown on the odometer, although true mileage is unknown. The water temperature gauge is said to read high due to a bad voltage regulator. Air conditioning is equipped but the system has not been tested by the seller. An aftermarket JVC tape deck is mounted in the center console.
Power comes from a 4.2L inline-six that received a valve job, new hoses, and a carburetor service from Historic Race Engineering in 2017 along with a new stock fuel pump in 2018. Shifting is through a 4-speed manual transmission. The fuel tank and brake cylinders were reportedly replaced prior to the seller's purchase, while a new master cylinder and steering rack bushings were installed during current ownership.
The drivers side floor carpet was replaced due to a leaking master cylinder and loose undercoating was removed at the same time. Some scaling is present, and detail photos of the area can be seen in the gallery.
A Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate detailing the chassis, engine, and body numbers along with other factory details has been provided.
Multiple service records are included in the sale, with major records detailed in the gallery. The car is sold with a box of spares, original tools, and a repair manual as well as the original wheels if desired by the new owner. Multiple videos of the car can be seen below.
